Army Cadet Force and Combined Cadet Force Case Study
“Akhter were really helpful in the run up to the roll out of equipment and during the next few years, their solution and idea of partnering with Microsoft gave us a solution over and above our requirement.” - Major S Elmstrom MCGI CISM | Westminster Cadets.
The Army Cadet Force and Combined Cadet Force – national, voluntary, uniformed youth organisations. The ACF and CCF offer challenging, adventurous and educational activities. Both are sponsored by the MOD (British Army).
Requirement
The ACF and CCF needed laptops with a secure way to manage and maintain them so that sensitive data could not be downloaded outside of the Westminster MIS.
Solution
Just under 3000 read-only thin client kiosk laptops to all ACF and CCF locations across the UK.
6500 Microsoft Windows To Go operating system devices (software builds completed at Akhter HQ). Installed Microsoft Windows Intune for device and application support.Result
As a result of this innovative solution, the British Army risk register was able to lower the risk on adult volunteers accessing sensitive data from Westminster, and the volunteers now had a new laptop for their use at their cadet detachments. Some cadet units around the country had never managed to log in to see important information – therefore, this enhanced their Safe System of Training (SST).
